Youth week ,,VELOMANIJA 2009 ” rides through Vilnius

The bicycle returns to the city: Since July, 23 the Youth meeting „Velomanija Vilnius 2009“ is taking place. Here 30 young people from different European Union countries gather. There are re-thinking the rising importance of the bicycle in the cities.

After a try of the Vilnius city infrastructure the organisations are now preparing a common declaration of the Velomanija. In this text the young participants express their priorities for the development of an ecological European city. It will be passed to the city municipality on July, 30th

For the public the participants of the Velomanija organise an evening with documentaries on bicycles and transport in cities. And as well we are creating the "bicycle art project".

July, 29, 13.00 (1 p.m.) Vinco Kudirkos a./square. "bicycle art" project creates a temporary piece of art.

Project Vector – Air pollution measurement by bicycle in Vilnius and other European cities (English with Lithuanian subtitles, 20 min.),

AUTO*MAT Czech documentary on mobility (non-)culture in post socialist societies... (with English subtitles, 90 min.),

July, 30, 14.00 (2 p.m.). In the „coloquim“ hall of Vilnius city municipality

Meeting with the vice mayor of Vilnius city and other representatives of the city municipality and ministeries
