Dear future and former BaltiCCyclists!

Forget the crisis – think about the summer and become a cyclist … Like so many here … Well, we did not become an Amsterdam (or: Copenhagen) of the East yet – but we are on our way ...

It's probably the first time that we can present you a declaration of Cyclists' groups from the new member states of the European Union addressing their particular problems: It's the “Declaration of the Velomanija Vilnius”; You may sign it online here:

www.dviratis.lt/deklaracija

more below … We'll remind the city of Vilnius for “Car free day” on September, 19th on it...

The Njuvs

  • Youth week and declaration “Velomanija Vilnius 2009”

The "Declaration of the Velomanija Vilnius 2009" is the result of a workshop during the same named youth week in and around the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. It had around 30 participants from cyclists or traffic orientated organisations from Poland (Torun an Szczecin), Czech Republic (Prague) and Lithuania (Vilnius). There were as well single participants from Slovakia, Germany and Austria.
The declaration is a common work thus the background of the participants is quite different. It is probably the first time that such document shows a consensus making conclusions from our personal experiences as cyclists in cities of Central and Eastern Europe.

Sign it here:

www.dviratis.lt/deklaracija

The declaration exists by now in Lithuanian, Polish, German and – of cause – English.

If you want to add another language, just send the text to Frankas@bicycle.lt

Do we need a self-service bicycle system?

This is the proposed question on www.dviratis.lt .

The plans for such a system were presented from the head of the public transport system of Vilnius, Vaidotas Antanavičius, to the participants of the “Velomanija”, here the presentation (I am afraid in Lithuanian):
